On Saturday, Amir Khan outclassed Devon Alexander during his second fight as a welterweight boxer but it is still not enough to raise the interest of Floyd Mayweather Jr. to fight him.

"The other night I think he did 4,000 (attendance), so, Amir Khan, his name holds no weight," Mayweather told reporters, as quoted by Sports World News.

He added that Khan is not really a famous fighter unlike Manny Pacquiao whom he earlier challenged to a fight this coming May.

"No one knows who Amir Khan is, except for people who are involved in boxing. My focus is Manny Pacquiao, let's make it happen," Mayweather explained.

After years of discussion about this potential megafight, Mayweather finally broke his silence and challenged Pacquiao's camp to a fight which he set on his own schedule.

If not Mayweather, Khan to fight Pacquaio?

When asked about his chances of fighting Mayweather, he said that it should definitely happen. "I have proven myself not once, but twice," Khan was quoted by Sports World News as saying.

He was also supported by Golden Boy president Oscar De La Hoya who said that Khan deserves "to be in a major fight."

"I'm pushing for a Pacquiao fight. And I'm also pushing for a Mayweather fight. He is a devastating puncher, has tremendous speed and he knows how to use it. He pleases the fans. He's exciting. People want to watch him fight," De La Hoya was also quoted in the report.

In a similar article by Manchester Evening News, it was discussed that if Mayweather continues to avoid fighting Khan, the latter have other plans for his boxing career.

"I can't do anything - that's Floyd. That's the type of guy Floyd is. He's the boss and you just agree with what he says. It doesn't do me any favors at all. Nobody can do anything, it's up to Floyd. At the end of the day he might just say 'I don't want to fight you - I want to fight somebody else,'" Khan added.

But he still firmly believes that he fights in a style that can definitely give him a fighting chance or even a victory against Mayweather.

"Mayweather only throws 300 punches a whole fight. I probably throw that in one round. He's probably thinking 'I can go for the easier fight,'" he was quoted as saying by Manchester Evening News.

Khan is also still not convinced that Mayweather would really want to fight Pacquiao this coming May. On the other hand, Khan, is open to the possiblity of fighting the Filipino champ.

"I can't see Mayweather-Pacquaio fight happening. I just can't see it happening. If it's not Mayweather then I'll have a fight with Pacquiao," he added.
