The successor to next-gen console, PS4, is definitely coming but the form it takes remains questionable, as International Business Times cited claims indicating that the PS4 and Xbox One are last among home consoles. Interestingly, cloud computing appears to be the trend, and the PS5 could be the next key player making use of such technology.

Sony Computer Entertainment's executive vice president Masayasu Ito himself seemed to be uncertain of the PS5's nature. Speaking to Japanese newspaper Nikkei Keizai Shimbum, IBT took note of his admission, "I think there will be a PS5. However, I don't know what form it'll have. It could be a physical console, or it could be in the cloud."

Nevertheless, Ito went on to reassure followers via DualShockers, "But even if the form might change, PS5 Games will be born. This is what we want."

Sony has been working on cloud-based gaming since it got hold of Gaikai, wrote Design & Trend. Gaikai is a tech company that specializes in streaming video games at high quality with low latency-- something that people generally thought of as impossible before.

Should Sony venture into cloud technology for the PS5, the Tehran Chronicle claimed that all games may be expected at its own PlayStation Network Cloud. The source said users will be able to download titles at faster speeds through this channel.

Design & Trend is convinced that cloud technology is still in its early stages, a "yet-to-be commercial success" in the booming video games industry. If Sony pushes the PS5 into such arena, it has been suggested that the system might totally exclude a hard drive. Consequently, the entire system interface may well off be streamed.

Meanwhile, TechRadar wrote about PlayStation Now, which basically allows the PS4 and PS3 to stream PS3 games immediately over the Internet -- no bothersome delays, only instant gaming. In addition, the outlet reported that game streaming will soon arrive for the PS Vita and Bravia TVs.

On top of PS3 games, the source noted that PS Now will likewise stream PS1, PS2 and PS4 games -- and they won't just be for the PS3, PS4, PS Vita and Bravia TVs. Surprisingly, Sony will also let these titles in for smartphones, tablets and third-party TVs, which means gaming will no longer be exclusive to consoles. Clearly, Sony is building up on the hype of accessible gaming.

Whatever form it takes, the PS5 has been suggested to release some time in 2020, said the Tehran Chronicle.

In the meantime, check out IGN's hands-on video with PS Now beta below.
