As we leap into the month of February, speculations aimed at the next iPhone continue to bring interesting details. Whether Apple jumps to an iPhone 7 or sticks to an iPhone 6s, rumors speak the same desirable language: upgrades.

In a recent article update, TechRadar discussed one possible upgrade for the next iPhone. But such improvement may actually come with a price. The outlet wrote, "Apple looks like it's trying to beef up the power of the next phone with more RAM -- but might that hurt battery?"

Certainly, we've seen predecessors iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus pack 1 GB of RAM. The earlier iPhone 5, iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c owned the similar amount, while the much older iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s only had 512 MB of RAM.

Should the next iPhone, be it the iPhone 6s or the iPhone 7, pack at least 2 GB of RAM, Apple is clearly making an effort to speed things up.

For the uninitiated, RAM stands for Random Access Memory -- a type of computer memory where softwares (operating system, programs and files) in current use are kept, so that they are accessed by the processor quickly.

Unlike the computer's hard disk, RAM is only loaded with data once the unit is turned on, TechTarget explained. Hence, the concept is very much comparable to the human short-term memory, which only handles a number of things at a certain point. It doesn't run out of memory, but when "fatigued," it slows down.

As told by the PC Advisor, the iPhone 6s is rumored to pack 2 GB of RAM, a new A9 processor, 21 MP camera and Touch ID integration. The outlet is convinced that the model will "look the same" as its iPhone 6 parent. That's because Apple was thought to bring the "major" changes to the iPhone 7.

Interestingly, both the iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 could arrive this year, if current reports bear truth. Know Your Mobile noted that Apple, reportedly, was considering "halving" its smartphone update cycle for 2015.

The outlet went on to cite reports, which claimed that the iPhone 6s will launch alongside the Apple Watch (first half of 2015). It has been announced that the wearable device is slated for an "early 2015" release. But whatever comes with it has never been confirmed by the Cupertino giant.

On the other hand, the iPhone 7 was suggested to arrive in late Q3 2015.

Are you convinced that the next iPhone doubles its RAM? Why? Why not? Sound off in the comments section.
