The Miz and Kofi Kingston started off the night with their Survivor Series Kickoff match, just days after The Miz left Kingston high and dry in the middle of their tag match against The Real American's on Monday Night Raw.
The Miz and Kingston started the match shaking hands, with the match going back and forth before The Miz managed to get the pin after countering Kingston's roll-up. Upset with the result of the match, Kingston slapped The Miz across his face when he stuck his hand out in truce, angry with how his night turned out.
WWE Tag Team Champions Goldust & Cody Rhodes, The Uso Brothers, and Rey Mysterio kicked off the Survivor Series pay-per-view telecast in a traditional Survivor Series Elimination match against The Shield--U.S. Champion Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns-- Antonio Cesaro, and Jack Swagger. Ambrose was quickly eliminated after arguing with the referee, allowing for Rhodes to roll him up for the pin. Mysterio would then hit Swagger with the 619, and tag in the Usos, who eliminated Swagger from the match. Rhodes went on to eliminate Cesaro with a roll-up after he was dizzy from spinning both Uso brothers in the Cesaro Swing, making it a 5-on-2 match. Reigns would end up spearing Jimmy Uso to eliminate him from the match, and then took out Rhodes after he was blind-tagged into the match and caught him off-guard with a spear. Reigns would then focus on Jey Uso, slamming him into a barricade before Jey ate a spear and was pinned by Rollins. Mysterio would surprise Rollins with a roll-up pin, leaving Reigns against Goldust and Mysterio. Reigns evened up the odds nailing Goldust with another spear and then took the win for his team after spearing Mysterio mid-air while he was setting up The Shield member for the 619 to remain the lone member of his team still standing tall and win the Survivor Series match.
Big E Langston defended his Intercontinental Championship in rematch against former champ Curtis Axel, who lost the title on Monday Night Raw. Axel tried to keep the much stronger champion at bay, even executing a PerfectPlex on the champion but it was not enough to prevent Langston from hitting him with the Big Ending to retain the title.
WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee managed to make her team of Alicia Fox, Summer Rae, Aksana, Kaitlyn and Rosa Mendes angry while trying to rally them against the E! Total Divas team - Nikki Bella, Brie Bells, Cameron, Naomi, Natalya, Eva Marie & JoJo - prior to the match. Lee calmed them down by reminding them of their common enemy despite their disdain for her and Tamina. Fox eliminated Naomii with split-legged springboard Moonsault off the top rope early in the match. Cameron and Mendes would soon see their exit prior to Summer Rae and Nikkie Bella getting into a dance-off. While Fandango's dance partner may have won the dance-off, she ate a kick to the head and got eliminated by Nikki Bella. Former WWE Divas champion took care of Eva Marie and Naomi with her power, hitting them with Gutbusters for the pins before Brie Bella surprised her with a Missile Drop-Kick. Brie Bella would take out Askana before Tamina stepped in to eliminate Brie Bella. Tamina went on to eliminate JoJo, catching her in mid-air before destroying her with a Samoan Drop, tagging in AJ to make the pin on the rookie. Tamina overpowered Natalya next, attempting a Superfly Splash that missed the target, giving Natalya the chance to tap Tamina out with the Sharpshooter. The current WWE Divas champion tried to gain the upper-hand on Natalya while she was distracted, only for AJ to tap out to the Sharpshooter, leaving Natalya and Nikki Bella as the survivors for their team.
Ryback came out to the ring to issue a challenge to the locker room, interrupting the WWE Hall of Fame panel of Booker T, Mick Foley, and Bret "the Hitman" Hart that were analyzing the PPV event. Much to Ryback's surprise, "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry answered the bully's call in a rematch from their Wrestlemania bout. Henry surprised Ryback with a rare cross body drop during the bout and finished him with The Worlds' Strongest Slam for a triumphant return to the ring.
John Cena defended his World Heavyweight Championship against Alberto Del Rio in a rematch from Hell In A Cell that saw Cena return from elbow surgery with a win over ADR. Del Rio worked over Cena's surgically-repaired elbow prior to Survivor Series, clamping on the Cross Armbreaker while using a steel chair to cause further damage on Cena's bad limb. Del Rio controlled the pace of the match, working on the arm to soften him up for his finisher, tossing the champion into the steel steps and attempting a Cross Armbreaker only to have Cena reverse it into the STF. Del Rio continued dominating throughout the match, but Cena fought back, reversing yet another Cross Armbreaker attempt and lifting the former champion into the Attitude Adjustment to retain the title in front of his hometown Boston crowd.
CM Punk and Daniel Bryan took on The Wyatt Family's Luke Rowan and Erick Harper in a tag team match next. The Wyatts have been hounding "The Best and The Beard" for weeks, with the two former champs trying to stay a step ahead of the clan. Bryan and Punk pulled out an assorted array of double-team moves such as double Missle Drop-Kicks off the top rope and a Hart Attack to even up the odds but the Wyatts would find ways to overpower them, including Rowan power-bombing Bryan off the top rope while Harper caught Punk in an Alligator Roll and the Michinoku Driver. Punk turned the match around for his team, smacking Harper with a head kick before getting the hot-tag and diving onto Rowan and Bray Wyatt - who was directing traffic for his clan from his rocking chair outside the ring. Punk then set Harper up for a GTS only to have Rowan interfere before he ate a Running Knee Strike from Bryan, allowing Punk to hit Harper with the Go To Sleep to earn the victory for "The Best and the Beard."
Randy Orton defended his WWE Championship in the main event against The Big Show. Orton has been having his issues with The Authority, angry that he is not getting the "support" from management - i.e. interference from the likes of The Shield and Kane - that he deserved as champion. To further frustrate "The Apex Predator," Triple H announced earlier in the night that there would be no physical interference in any of the night's bouts, including the main event. The Big Show used his immense power to his advantage throughout the match. Orton tried to even up the odds after the referee went down on an accidental collision with a steel chair but The Big Show fended him off, tossing the champion out the ring and then into the third row. The Big Show was set to pin Orton and become the new champ until Triple H's music hit, coming out to ringside with The Authority by his side to distract the challenger long enough for The Big Show to get suckered into an RKO. "The Viper" then punted his fallen opponent in the head, pinning him for the three-count. As Orton celebrated his victory, Cena came back out, holding his World Heavyweight Championship high in the air and staring down the WWE Champion to end the show. Could this be a prelude of things to come in the upcoming December Pay-Per-View, WWE TLC 2013?
