Hugh Jackman has already expressed interest in leaving his role as Wolverine in the "X-Men" franchise films, however, before he exits, he is still doing "Wolverine 3" and hinted that it may be his last "X-Men" film.

As Screen Rant noted, he is getting a little bit too old to keep on doing such demanding roles as that of the mutant.

However, because of Fox's intention of taking the "X-Men" to a more serious level with a "Fantastic Four" reboot, Jackman may put off retiring for a while. The upcoming crossover, compared with the high from "X-Men: Days of Future Past" alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, and James McAvoy renewed his interest in the role and insisted that he's not willing to give it up just yet.

Jackman shared, "I said to my wife, 'The moral is that I should never stop playing Wolverine. I've got to find a way to keep playing him until I die.' I know that someday they'll recast the role with another actor...I'd be happy if the role was eventually recast. It would mean that it had become iconic."

For now, the actor is working out to get back in shape for his role as Wolverine, as Jackman initially thought that "X-Men: Apocalypse" is set to start filming next month, with a back-to-back shooting schedule with "Wolverine 3."

However, that doesn't seem to be the case anymore as "Wolverine 3" won't be in theaters until March 2017 and as James Mangold confirmed via Twitter, they won't be filming until early next year.

While "X-Men: Apocalypse" and "Deadpool" are both slated to be released next year, Jackman made a connection about the two films, saying on Digital Spy that his character will be making a cameo on the film starring Ryan Reynolds. He also opened up about his interest in doing a film with Wolverine and Deadpool together, explaining, "They are definitely enemies in the comics and they always spark off well together, so I'd be open to that idea."

A slew of Marvel superhero movies are going to hit theaters in the next few years, with a reboot of "Fantastic Four" opening on August 7, 2015, "Deadpool" on February 12, 2016, "X-Men: Apocalypse" on May 27, 2016, "Gambit" on October 27, 2016, "Wolverine 3" (which still needs an official title) on March 3, 2017, "Fantastic Four 2" on July 14, 2017, and another yet-unspecified X-Men film on July 13, 2018.

How long do you think Hugh Jackman will be playing Wolverine? He seems to be doing the rest of the films until 2018, but after that, do you think he's still going to keep being Wolverine, literally until he dies, as he told his wife?
