Amanda Knox is making the rounds on news media once again as a key ruling approaches.

The case, according to the Independent UK, is currently in uproar as Italy's highest court for the six-year legal battle will make a decision on March 25, 2015 whether to maintain Knox's conviction on the murder of Meredith Kercher. If the decision is upheld, the 27-year-old Knox may face extradition from the U.S. to Italy.

While it is yet to be seen whether the U.S. will have no choice but to have her extradited from the country or not, what may be less unclear is that the process of having her extradited if the conviction is upheld will be a process of its own. Ultimately, Knox's fate will most likely depend on the relations and the agreement between Rome and Washington DC as to how her case will be handled.

According to the report, Steve Clemons, a foreign policy expert and fellow at the New America Foundation said the following about the case, "If the Italian supreme court sustains the conviction, it will be nearly impossible for the US - despite the political uproar that will occur among those who believe she is innocent - not to extradite her to Italy. Emotions may run high, but in the end the relations between Italy and the US are deep, strategic, complex, and are designed to respect each other's laws, even in controversial cases."

Knox said that she would have to be dragged "kicking and screaming" back to Italy.

Despite the extradition that she may be facing, Knox has been trying to live a normal life since her return to the States by working as a journalist for the West Seattle Herald. She also began dating again, and her engagement to childhood friend, Colin Sutherland was reported last month.

Looking back at this case, in November 2007 the murder of British student Meredith Kercher in Perugia, Italy rocked the world and among the primary suspect was her roommate was Knox.

The Guardian reported that Knox spent four years in jail with her ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, who was also convicted of the same charges, until 2011, when the pair had their convictions overturned. However, the complicated judicial system in Italy ordered a retrial and a court in Florence found them guilty of the murder charge in 2014, sentencing them to 28-and-a-half years, and 25 years in prison.
