The highly-anticipated OnePlus 2, successor to 2014's flagship killer OnePlus One, is due to launch next month, the Master Herald reported. According to the outlet, the device will arrive with a major change from its predecessor, specially that it's bound to run the Chinese start-up's very own Oxygen OS.

OnePlus' decision to part ways with Cyanogen, its partner for the One, may be attributed to "a rocky relationship," Christian Today cited. As told by the outlet, the situation has been one of OnePlus' reasons to develop its own operating system.

Another reported reason is OnePlus' belief that running its own operating system will make things easier to manage, as in the case of troubleshooting issues, the Venture Capital Post noted.

The Oxygen OS is reportedly based on Android 5.0 Lollipop. According to Christian Today, the new OS has already rolled out to some One devices, which only heightens our anticipation as to how it would look on the next flagship.

The OnePlus 2 is expected to come with a large, 5.5-inch display, in a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. According to the Master Herald, the device will run Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor, coupled by 4 GB of RAM and powered by a superb 3,300 mAh battery.

Citing Snapdragon 810's alleged heating issues, Christian Today wrote that the OnePlus 2 could opt for Snapdragon 615 or "some other second generation chip," though we have to take such insight with a pinch of salt.

While things appear good so far, the Venture Capital Post cited reports, which indicate that the OnePlus 2 won't come with micro SD support. The device, however, is touted to sport an all-metal casing, along with a 16 MP main camera and 5 MP front snapper.

Following its launch, the OnePlus 2 could hit stores late in the second quarter or early in the third quarter, the Master Herald said. With regards to pricing, Christian Today is convinced that the OnePlus 2 will sell "somewhere in the $500 mark."

In the meantime, the iconic OnePlus One is already available to purchase without invites, the start-up confirmed in a recent blog post. Unfortunately, the OnePlus Two will follow its predecessor's footsteps, as it's announced to retail by invite-only.

OnePlus wrote, "With the experiences we've gained with the One, we will be far more prepared to make the same transition with the OnePlus 2. Yes, the 2 will initially launch with invites. We're committed to maintaining razor-thin margins in order to give as much value as possible back to our users, and this drastically increases our risk."
