A young, newly married couple killed a Pennsylvania man after luring him to his death with a Craigslist ad. The couple said they wanted to kill someone together, according to police.

Elytte Barbour, 22, and Miranda Barbour, 18, face criminal homicide charges after killing Troy LaFerrara, 42, who responded to an online ad that promised companionship in return for money, USA Today reports.

LaFerrara's body was found Nov. 12 in an alley in Sunbury, a small city northwest of Philadelphia. The couple had moved to Selinsgrove, which is near Sunbury, from North Carolina.

According to police, Elyttee Barbour said he hid in the backseat of the couple's SUV as his wife picked up LaFerrara at a mall on Nov. 11. When his wife signaled, he wrapped a cord around LaFerrara's neck, and held him down while she stabbed him.

The man was stabbed 20 times, police said.

Miranda Barbour was charged on Wednesday. Initially, she denied knowing LaFerrara, but her story changed after investigators found that the last call received on the victim's cellphone was from her number.

According to a police affidavit, Miranda Barbour said she met the victim in Selinsgrove then drove him to Sunbury, where they parked. She said he groped her, so she took a knife from between the front seats and stabbed him after he put his hand around her throat.

She told police she then purchased cleaning supplies at a department store after stabbing LaFerrara, then picked up her husband and took him to a strip club for his birthday. Then on Friday, Elytte Barbour said he was the one who purchased the cleaning supplies, which was backed up by surveillance footage.

Elyttte Barbour told the The Daily Item that his wife, whom he married in October, hired herself out as a "companion" to men she met on websites, which he supported because he said it did not involve sexual contact.

Elytte Barbour said his wife could make $50 to $850 for meeting men for dinner or to walk around a mall, Philly.com reports. She placed ads on Craigslist which said that sex was not part of the deal, he said.

"She is not a prostitute," he said. "What she does is meet men who have broken marriages or have no one in their lives and she meets with them and has delightful conversation."

Sunbury police Chief Steve Mazzeo also said investigators will be looking into the death of a man with whom Miranda Barbour had a 1-year-old child.
