Reigning as one of the most promising underdogs in the mobile arena is the Verizon LG G4. With its big and bright 5.5-inch display rendering a resolution of 1440 x 2560, its sophisticated genuine leather chassis, its impressive camera and the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop, LG G4 is almost close to perfect.

However, shortly after its June 4 release, mobile users easily expressed their fair share of horror stories when it comes to LG G4's glitches (concerning the touchscreen) and missing features, such as the Multi-User Accounts, Smart Settings, Themes, Customizable Lockscreen, LG Smartworld and FM Radio,  reports Tech Times.

Aside from these, a review published by Forbes highlights the frustrating speed issue of LG G4. "Often there's lag when opening apps, and sometimes they don't open at all," noted the site.

"I've also experienced lag as I issue commands to open apps, switch between open apps or pull the notification bar down. It's worst when I input my pattern to unlock the device, which takes a second or two to register my swipes," he added.

The review further emphasized that the speed issue caused by its hardware and software is threatening the potentials of what is essentially an excellent handset.

With these lapses, G4 users had set high expectations when it comes to the recent software update. They thought that it could finally ease a huge percentage of the device issues. Unfortunately, apart from some bug fixes, only a few enhancements have been made.

One highlight is the enhanced Folio display during a call. However, Ubergizmo reiterates that such feature is only possible for users with a Quick Circle case snapped on their G4.

Another is the Display Contact and Non-Contacts numbers consistently in the dialer app, as well as the enhanced Advanced Calling feature. Android Police even commented, "The dialer and Advanced Calling fixes are more important, but not really exciting."

In light of the impending updates, LG has affirmed that it has no plans of updating the G4 to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, and might even jump straight to Android M. Such arrangement frustrates users for this particular OS contains important new features, including the device protection.

"While the G4, which shipped with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, hasn't had the kind of problems with the Lollipop OS as its predecessor, consumers who shelled out a premium for the brand new smartphone expect the latest technology," wrote Tech Times.

For now, users can only wait for new and definite updates that could partially, hopefully, boost the performance of the LG G4.
