Apple is reportedly skipping the next generation of iPad Air and jumping to the super-sized flagship tablet to be named the "iPad Pro."

Rumors circulating around the iPhone-maker revealed that they would not continue developing the iPad Air 3, or any successor to 2015's iPad Air 2 at that.

The International Business Times reported that the smartphone giant would be pursuing a flaship tablet instead of a next generation iPad Air, citing Chinese-language website Economic Daily News.

The translated version of the website got word that Foxconn, the Taipei-based multinational electronics contract manufacturing company responsible for assembling Apple's tablets, only received orders from Apple to produce the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

Aside from the jumbo-sized tablet, Apple's production of a smaller version of the Apple iPad Mini 4 is still in the works, though it is rumored to be the last iPad Mini the company would be releasing, UberGizmo reported.

This removes any chance that the company is going to release a medium-sized 9.7-inch tablet anytime soon, IBT stated.

According to Mac Rumors, the report also revealed the reason behind these speculations, citing how Fubon Hardware investment advisor Liaoxian Li told Economic Daily News about how Apple is considering directing the consumers' attention to the iPad Pro by removing their other tablets.

Li further added that this is also Apple's way of maximizing Foxconn's "deployment capacity."

The Economic Daily News report said that the website is "rather sketchy," considering that the analyst they quoted was not very well known and that the outlet itself "has a mixed track record on rumors."

While these are mere rumors as of the moment, UberGizmo still believes that there is still a big possibility that all of it is true, especially since the successor of the iPad Mini released last year had been "half-hearted at best."

The website further stated that Apple seemed to be losing interest in producing more of the small tablet in the near future.

BGR reported on Wednesday that the company is already preparing for the release of their biggest tablet as a flagship project for the year 2015, proof that Apple is now gearing up for a "bigger" market with a jumbo-sized tablet.

Based on images unofficially released in the past months, the new addition to Apple's iPad family would be boasting four speakers, one near each of the corners of the device.

A Phone Arena report that released the images also revealed that the highly-anticipated Apple tablet would be run by an Apple A8 chipset matched with its massive high-resolution display.
