With their newly acquired players for the upcoming season, the Los Angeles Lakers are ready to take on the series of games scheduled for them. But team star Kobe Bryant seems to not be reaching out to the newbies.

In their introductory press conference on Wednesday, 247 Sports said that Brandon Bass, Louis Williams, and Roy Hibbert went silent for about 10 seconds when they were asked if Bryant already passed any words of wisdom to them.

The awkward silence was broken by another reporter who asked an unrelated question. These players have that reporter to thank for sparing them the opportunity to explain on the issue.

According to a similar CBS Sports report, Bryant may just be busy this summer because of watching FC Barcelona, denying him the opportunity to meet or talk to the new players of the team.

"But wouldn't you expect him to at least send a Black Mamba-type text to Hibbert, Williams and Bass?" questioned the same report.

It also said that the "silence and facial expressions" of the players could mirror how they also feel towards Bryant.

The incident was during part of the event that launched the three players. They are expected to help the team achieve their dream of winning the NBA title again.

ESPN said Hibbert best embodies the ideals of a team in a player, since he was a runner-up for the NBA Defensive Player of the Year recognition. However, things did not go well in Indiana and he ended up being dealt in exchange for a second-round pick.

"They wanted to go in a different direction and I understand that. It's a business. I'm really happy that I was able to land with a team that has such a rich tradition of big guys and have a winning tradition as well. I always say, embrace change," Hibbert said in the ESPN report.

Williams, on the other hand, was named last season's NBA Sixth Man of the Year and is also attempting to have a fresh start after leaving the Toronto Raptors, which reportedly did not offer him a new contract.

"Once it came down to it, I felt like I needed a new start. I've been in the [Eastern Conference] the first 10 years of my career. To have the opportunity to play in the West was very intriguing to me," Williams noted.

For Bass, being with the Lakers is fulfilling his college dream.

"All I've thought about is me playing in purple and gold when I was in college [at LSU]. It kinda got me back to my roots. I remember being in college and being a Laker fan. I haven't thought about the rivalry, but I know I'm going to get a lot of questions," he explained in the ESPN report.
