If you haven't heard already, "How I Met Your Mother" star Neil Patrick Harris has a new variety series called "Best Time Ever." According to Entertainment Weekly, he will have a few tricks up his sleeve, including magic, Ricky Martin and Reese Witherspoon, among many others.

Harris revealed at the Television Critics Association Press Tour that Witherspoon will be the first celebrity guest announcer, and that Martin will participate in a game where he will sing one of his hit singles.

The variety show is not something that can be compared to Fox's short-lived "Knock Knock Live", at least, Harris doesn't think so. The Hollywood Reporter said that he admitted to not watching it.

However, Harris is quite confident about "Best Time Ever" as the show is based on British series "Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway." Executive producer Siobhan Greene will be looking after Harris's show.

The host shared about the upcoming series, "I think an audience needs to be entertained, as opposed to [being] a litmus test for entertainment."

He also shared about the pressure of delivering, "It feels to me more pressure in anticipation because it's a blind commit in some ways. We don't want to reveal every single thing. We're holding a lot of cards close to our vest because that's what's going to make it exciting."

Variety reported that Harris will not only serve as a host to the program, but a showrunner as well. With the many variety shows out there, Harris stressed that he wants "Best Time Ever" to be authentic... No cards to make audience laugh or cry on cue.

He said, "We're in a world where you're not sure what's real and what's not. We're going out of our way to make sure the audience doesn't know things."

The show currently has an eight-episode order, with Harris signed on for a year to host and produce. Regardless of the show being a hit, Harris believes that it is better to air few episodes per season to keep the quality of what is going to be a complex production. He shared, "It deserves to be a little bit of an event."

It's been awhile since Harris was in the small screen. His last regular role was playboy Barney Stinson in "How I Met Your Mother," which ended almost two years ago. His latest stint should serve as good news for his fans.

Catch "Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris" on NBC beginning September 15.
