Kenya's champ David Rudisha made it happen again at the World Athletics Championships in China on Tuesday reclaiming the 800-meter title.

The Straits Times report that it took about three years for the Kenyan to again get the chance to defend the title.

The report claimed that he was still "not at his best" during the race after injuring a knee which also disabled him from defendinh his title two years ago.

But he proved that he can rise from adversity and win again clocking at 1 minute 45.84 seconds besting Poland's Adam Kszczot.

BBC reported that this time "was almost five seconds outside the time he set" in 2012 when he also won the gold medal.

After his injury, he reportedly was not able to defend his title against Botswana's Nijel Amos, who failed to make it to the final rounds this year.

In reacting to his victory, Rudisha said his win was truly special for him.

"Despite the fact that I was coming from a bad injury that almost pushed me out of my career... to be back here and to prove to the world that I can win the World Championships, it means a lot," the Olympian said.

He told The Guardian that winning back the title means a lot especially with all the disappointments he experienced.

"I am delighted about this gold medal. It means a lot to me, especially after all these disappointments I have had. Last month I had a problem with my speed, but when I solved it I knew: no matter if the pace in this final was slow or fast I could win," the middle-distance runner explained.

Rudisha also attributed his win to the control he had during the race.

"The race today was more tactical, I was not going for anything fast. I know for the last month I have been working on my speed and I was very confident coming here and I knew that if the pace is slow, I could win the championships," he said.

Meanwhile, Usain Bolt outclassed Justin Gatlin during their 100-meter race last Sunday, Daily Mail reported.

"The race itself was good but I'm feeling tired. It's been an up-and-down season so I knew the 200m was going to be harder because I'm not in the best fitness shape that I wanted," Bolt said.

Bolt added that it would be more difficult to fight Gatlin at 200 meters.

The Jamaican sprinter said he is hoping to get his technique right for the next rounds of the competition.
