Pope Francis urged people from all walks of life to band together to stop violent crimes against migrants. Recently, the tragedy involving the 71 migrants who lost their lives in a smuggler's truck around the main Budapest Highway received global attention.

In a report by Fox News, Pope Francis made an appeal to the faithful in St. Peter's Square in Rome to join him in prayer to put a stop to these crimes victimizing immigrants. The vicar of Rome was deeply troubled by the recent events and urged the faithful to do what they can to stop the hate crimes.

USA Today reported that European ministers had announced a September summit to tackle the issue on Europe's growing migrant crisis. The pope was joined by Cardinal ChristophSchonborn of Vienna in special prayer for migrants all around the globe who are escaping persecution or financial and economic turmoil. Pope Francis had singled out the recent events in Budapest.

"We entrust each of them to the mercy of God," Pope Francis said in the report with USA Today. "And we ask him to help us to work together effectively to prevent these crimes, which offend the entire human family."

The USA Today report further stated that the Hungarian police reported that a Bulgarian man was the fifth person who was detained in line with the tragic event in Budapest. The Hungarian court had called for three Hungarian men and one Afghan to be detained for further investigation after being involved in the deaths of 71 people, which included four children.

According to police chief Hans Peter Doskozil, a travel document found stated that the victims were Syrians. The USA Today report stated that the Austrian road crew discovered the abandoned truck containing the decomposing bodies.

Meanwhile, Yahoo News reported that the pontiff will be travelling to the United States on September 22, a first for the pope since he has never set foot in the country before. According to the report, many American Catholics are having a hard time comprehending the pope's critique on the evils of global capitalism.

"This trip to the United States will be the most difficult, the most challenging, and the most interesting because he's exploring the world that for him is more foreign than Asia, than the Philippines," said Massimo Faggioli of University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. "It's not just a language barrier. It's a cultural barrier."
