Following his performance of Labrinth's "Jealous," Josh Daniel shared his reason for choosing the song as his audition piece for the "X-Factor UK." He also expressed how he feels blessed to have received such an emotional response from the judges, especially Simon Cowell who was moved to tears.

According to Mirror UK, the 21-year old sang his rendition of "Jealous" on Sunday as tribute to his deceased best friend, Thomas. Daniel revealed the song felt close to his heart since it tells of his depression after Thomas died from pneumonia in 2013.

"I could really relate to the lyrics and I fell in love with the song. It helped me to express the emotion that I'd been bottling up," he said in the Mirror UK report. 

But the "X-Factor UK" hopeful admitted that he never anticipated that his choice of song would give such a huge impact on the judges.  Daniel reportedly said that he feels amazed at the overwhelming reaction especially from Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, who were caught on video crying as Daniel sang his heart-rending version of "Jealous."

"I just feel blessed that I've managed to have that experience and impact," Daniel said as quoted by Mirror UK.

Daniel reportedly also talked about Cowell's emotional reaction and said that he didn't see any of it coming. But according to Mirror UK, he acknowledged that Simon's tears were probably from the fact that he just lost his mother and felt some kind of personal connection to the song. It's believed Cowell's reaction was understandable since he was deeply touched by the song.

According to Metro UK, Cowell tried to stop the tears through sips of water. However, after he gave Josh three yesses he became too emotionally bothered that he left the stage looking so upset.  His fellow "X-Factor UK" judges Cheryl and Nick Grimshaw reportedly worried over Simon so followed him backstage.  

In a photo shared by Metro UK, the two judges could be seen looking worried as they wondered what to do with Simon. It's believed Cowell had a quick conversation with some of the "X Factor UK" crew before he supposedly took a golf cart ride away from the set. A photo shared by the site shows Simon looking very sad after Josh's audition.

Cowell previously opened up abour her mother, Judith's death to The Sun. A couple of weeks after her burial, the "X-Factor UK" judge revealed that his mother has been sick for a very long time. He said he had watched over his mother suffer for nine months.

Simon reportedly broke down talking about her mother during his exclusive interview with The Sun. He also revealed how his mother was always the one pushing him to get back to judging "The X-Factor." Simon said Judith had always loved watching the show.
