President Barack Obama might be facing his greatest challenge in his term as President yet -- conquering the untamed Alaskan Wilderness. Obama won't be alone in his conquest, as he will be joined by famed British TV explorer, Bear Grylls.

NBC made the announcement on Monday that Barack Obama will be joining Bear Grylls in a special episode of 'Running Wild with Bear Grylls'. Obama is the show's most high profile special guest to date. The show campaigns The White House's advocacy on the effects of climate change. Obama is expected to be schooled on the survival techniques in the Arctic wild.

"President Obama will meet with Grylls while visiting Alaska to observe the effects of climate change on the area," the statement from NBC announced. "The two will then come together in the Alaskan Wilderness. President Obama will become the first U.S. president to receive a crash course in survival techniques from Bear Grylls."

According to NBC, Obama and Grylls will be trekking the now receding glaciers of Alaska. The network also teased that Obama will be given the opportunity to face the current environmental issues affecting Alaska. The President will also have a chance to talk with the village leaders and salmon fishermen, whose main source of income is now threatened because of shoreline eroding.

BBC reports that Obama is the first President to be part of the show. The President is set to go on a three-day tour in the hopes of building support to cut greenhouse gases from U.S. power plants and to raise public awareness of the situation in Alaska.

Obama's segment on 'Running Wild With Bear Grylls' generated mixed reactions from people all across the world. When word came out from NBC, people took to Twitter to voice their reactions.

Buzzfeed News reported that there are already petitions online to have the President drink his own urine in the name of survival. The survival show is also famous for having celebrity guests rough it out in the wild and going through extreme lengths to survive. Celebrity guests have included Kate Hudson and Kate Winslet.

NBC also reports that Obama's guest slot in the show is part of the Obama administration's aggressive campaign to curb global warming by nearly a third. This is the highlight of the climate change policy in the past two years.

The segment is set to be released later this month.
