The 2012 autobiography of WWF legend Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka led to him being charged with murder for the death of his girlfriend in 1983 after the police found that there were inconsistencies on his earlier testimony and his account on his book.

The Morning Call initially reported that the wrestler's "Superfly: The Jimmy Snuka Story" was supposed to highlight his career, but it ended up exposing a criminal liability 32 years ago.

"It also helped crack the death of Snuka's 23-year-old girlfriend, Nancy Argentino, after she was found unconscious in a Whitehall Township motel," added the same report.

On Tuesday, The Morning Call said the former WWF star was charged with "third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter" for Argentino's death. A Lehigh County grand jury reportedly ruled that the wrestler assaulted his former girlfriend in a motel then left her there to die.

"His assaultive acts and his failure to act to obtain medical attention resulted in her death," wrote the grand jury in a decision quoted by The Morning Call.

The case was reopened two years ago with the help of The Morning Call which revealed autopsy reports which were not previously released.

"An autopsy determined she died of traumatic brain injuries and had suffered 39 cuts and bruises -- a possible sign of 'mate abuse' -- on her head, ear, chin, arms, hands, back, buttocks, legs and feet," added the same report.

It also revealed that she was hit with an object 12 - 24 hours before she died.

In addition, TMZ discussed that Snuka was also inconsistent with his statement's about Argentino's death.

He reportedly told investigators in 1983 that she sustained the head injury when they were "fooling around" outside their motel room in Allentown, PA "when he pushed her and she fell, striking her head."

But this changed in his autobiography and recent media interviews where he claimed that Argentino slipped and fell while she was on her way to a bathroom at a rest stop.

The Morning Call noted that Snuka surrendered to Lehigh County authorities in Allentown. He was then arraigned by District Judge Robert Halal.

But Deadspin said he was released on Tuesday on after posting 10 percent of the $100,000 bail set and surrendering his passport.

In explaining why he was allowed bail for a homicide case, Leigh Valley Live said it was allowed since "Snuka is suffering from a life-threatening illness, the treatment of which would unnecessarily burden taxpayers."

The WWF legend is said to be suffering stomach cancer.

District Attorney Jim Martin also clarified with Leigh Valley Live that Snuka's celebrity status in 1983 did not lead to the lack of charges against him.

"I'm sure it wasn't a factor in 1983. The grand jury is a useful tool for a prosecutor," Martin explained noting that his big name also did not matter in the reopening of the case.
