Microsoft has come a long way since the bygone Lumia days. Since then the company has evolved and has invested in improving its hardware.

A word that Microsoft is currently working on a smartphone that would rival Apple, Inc.'s upcoming iPhone 6S Plus spread like wildfire. As of now, leaked photos have been circulating all over the internet to support these claims. In a previous report by The Cubic Lane, the said device was given the name "Microsoft Surface Phone" following the company's success with its Microsoft Surface tablets. 

The company has learned from its mistakes, especially from the demise of the long forgotten Lumia series. Banking on the success of the Microsoft Surface Pro tablets, the company hopes to rival Apple's highly anticipated follow-up to the iPhone 6 Plus.

Being dubbed as 'Project Juggernaut Alpha', Microsoft is set to release a 5.5-inch phone running on the latest Windows 10 OS. The phablet will dominate the smartphone markets, and is expected to have the best features a Windows operated phone could offer. 

The REM reports that the phablet will rival the gorgeous Retina display of the iPhone 6S Plus. Based on the leaks, the smartphone will have a massive 5.5-inch screen with a beautiful QHD screen resolution. 

The titan phone will work on a powerhouse desktop-class Intel Atom x3 (SoFIA) 64-bit processor.

The phone is reported to come with a 21-megapixel PureView Zeiss 6-lens primary camera, and an 8-megapixel Zeiss wide-angle shooter in the front to rival the iPhone 6S Plus' 13-megapixel camera. 

Few companies have dared to outshine Apple's Retina display, but Microsoft has been working on the tough ClearBack Gorilla Glass 4 that can prove to be a force to be dealt with when dropped. Since good screen resolution is one of the chief components of a smartphone, the Microsoft Surface Phone's gorgeous AMOLED display promises clear images. 

The Microsoft Surface Phone will come equipped with the S Pen-esque Surface Pen and will feature a USB Type-C port.

The smartphone is expected to be released in 64GB and 128GB options with functions for microSD card. 

It is hinted that The Microsoft Surface Phone will be available in October of this year to rival the release of Apple's new lineup of phones and tablets. Apple has already announced that it will be holding an event in early September for the unveiling of their new lineup of iPhones and iPads. Only time will tell if Microsoft will beat the competition out of the water.
