Jason Momoa wants to give a fair warning for people who like poking jokes at Aquaman. The actor sat down and gave some advice to fans of DC comics about bearing the brunt of many Aquaman jokes.

The actor will be making his debut as the Atlantian Sea King in the cinematic Batman v. Superman film next year. Momoa recently appeared at Fan Expo Canada where he was grilled by an audience member about what he thought about all those Aquaman memes floating about the internet.

“It’s cute and funny. People make fun of him,” he said in a report with Entertainment Weekly. “There’s a bunch of jokes about him, but I’m like, ‘Just wait. Let’s just wait a little bit, and then you can make jokes.'”

Cinema Blend believes that Momoa is confident in his role as the Atlantian superhero in the upcoming film. Being a good sport, Momoa isn't bothered by the Aquaman jokes surfacing all over the internet. Fans believe that Momoa will give the character justice in the highly anticipated Zack Snyder film. This is perhaps the very reason why Momoa seems unfazed by the Aquaman jokes.

Much is expected of Batman v. Superman as it brings some of DC Comic's most iconic characters all in one epic film. This film debut is expected to change the way people look at superhero movies, and perhaps change the way most fans see Aquaman.

The Atlantian superhero has become somewhat of a running joke in the comic book universe with many people calling his superpowers "useless" or saying that he is a useless member of The Justice League. Aquaman has yet to be given a proper debut on film and Momoa hopes to finally put aside those Aquaman punchlines which seem rather unearned, at times.

"The whole mythology of Aquaman is pretty amazing. There're so many things to tell, and there's a whole backstory that's just amazing," Momoa said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "There's a lot of surprises coming. I think, yeah, he's been cast aside [in the past]. But, um [laughs] times are going to change now, buddy. We don't want to just reinvent it, but [Zack Snyder has] got a whole idea of what Aquaman should be and I'm really honored to be playing it. I'm excited for the world to see it."

Cinema Blend also adds that Aquaman actually has the super strength and durability that would allow him to become a formidable rival against Superman. The King of Atlantis also has the ability to communicate with sea life and is able to harness the oceans of the world as both offensive and defensive weapons.

Jason Momoa will be starring alongside Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot in Batman v Superman set to debut in theaters on March 25, 2016. Aquaman will also be set to appear in Suicide Squad, Justice League Part 1 on November 17. 2017 and Justice League Part 2 on June 14, 2019. An Aquaman movie directed by James Wan is set to be released on July 27, 2018.
