"Grey's Anatomy" creator Shonda Rhimes is out to break audience's hearts once again. The executive producer is reportedly in the works of producing another medical drama.

According to a report with Buzzfeed, the medical drama will revolve around the lives of a medevac team that is based in Baghdad during the war in Iraq. In true Rhimes fashion, the upcoming ABC drama will be nothing short of tragedy.

Huffington Post reports that Shondaland is expanding its territory where most TV shows fear to enter: Iraq. The yet untitled show will focus on the team of medical doctors trying to save the lives of soldiers wounded on the battlefield during the height of the Iraqi war. The script is being written by Zoanne Clark who is also a medical doctor and has experience in emergency medicine. Clark is also a longtime producer of "Grey's Anatomy".

Rhimes has earned the ire of many "Grey's Anatomy" fans when she killed off fan favorite Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd. The character was killed off in a controversial manner during the 11th season finale of "Grey's Anatomy" to which fans of the medical drama took to social media to lash out at Rhimes for killing off McDreamy.

Though Patrick Dempsey, who plays McDreamy on the show, had reportedly signed a two-year contract to remain on the show, he explained that "it had evolved and it sort of happened." Rhimes would later explain that killing off Dempsey's character was a "difficult decision for her to make."

Reports have speculated that the upcoming season will be a lighter season following the sudden death of McDreamy. Rhimes herself promised that the 12th season of the medical drama will be on a lighter tone. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) will see herself undergoing a "rebirth" following her husband's death. Meredith will have a chance to discover what she wants with her new life without Derek in her life.

"So many people lose their spouses in a myriad of different ways," said Pompeo in an earlier interview, "If we give anybody, even one person, a little bit of comfort or open their eyes to a new idea or make them feel joy when they wouldn't feel again, that's a story worth telling."

In addition to this project with ABC, Rhimes is also reportedly working on another drama that focuses on nuns as well as a comedy centered on divorce called "Splitsville."

Be sure to catch "Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 on ABC.
