"The Flash" Season 2 sees Barry Allen discovering new aspects to his powers. Unfortunately, with new powers comes new and even more dangerous threats.

In a report with Collider, Barry discovers this new power which involves lightning. In fact, the cast of "The Flash" revealed that the upcoming season deals with a lot of changes in their characters.

"In the second episode, Barry... discovers a new aspect of his powers -- involving lightning," said Grant Gustin, who plays Barry in the show. "And it is very, very cool. I'm excited about it!"

In an earlier interview, executive producer Greg Berlanti hinted that the upcoming episodes will deal a lot with time travel and this has played a crucial part in "The Flash" comics over the years.

"That is the one that we deal with directly in the winter. That is a big "theme" is the wrong word for it but that is a big part of the DNA of who The Flash was, so we deal with that," he said.

Berlanti also hinted in an earlier interview that Barry Allen had a lot more powers than what many people know. The executive producer hinted that these abilities will be revealed in future episodes.

"Oh, he has tons. Definitely. We're holding back on some big ones still. He famously can phase through things. We haven't seen him do that yet." Berlanti said.

So far, the hero has achieved impressive superhuman feats like running on water and even running up a building. In the comic book universe, Barry Allen is capable of accomplishing even more than just running very fast with his superpowers. In the comics, Barry has the ability to vibrate his molecules at an alarmingly fast rate that allows him to phase through objects. Barry can also create vortexes with his arms and even absorb vast amounts of knowledge.

In a report with Comicbook.com, the Flash's costume will also see some changes here and there. The costume is reportedly getting more faithful to the comic book.

"I added a little bit more to the arms, the chest has been carved out from the original design and the color of his crest has changed," said Maya Mani.

In the upcoming season, Barry Allen has to deal with Eddie's death. WWE Hall of Famer Adam Copeland guest stars as the Atom Smasher. "The Flash" Season 2 returns on Tuesday, Oct. 6 on The CW.
