With Michael Kidd-Gildchrist and Jeff Taylor all out with injuries, the Charlotte Bobcats are reportedly looking to trade for a swingman, and Orlando Magic shooting guard Aaron Afflalo appears to be on top of their wish list.

The Bobcats are surprisingly in the playoff picture despite suffering setbacks to their key players this season. Kidd-Gilchrist, who's in his second year in the NBA, is expected to miss four more weeks after sustaining a fractured bone in his hand. In his absence, the Bobcats leaned on Taylor to step up but his season ended soon after, suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon.

Grantland NBA insider Zach Lowe first reported the news that the Bobcats might be on the lookout for a swingman on the trading front as they try to stay competitive in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

"If I had a wing I wanted to flip for future assets/picks, I'd be on the phone to Charlotte today," Lowe posted on his Twitter account earlier this week.

SB Nation Magic beat writer Evan Dunlap believed the Bobcats could make a run at Afflalo, who is having a breakout season so far. Afflalo averaged at least 21.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game, assuming the leadership role for the up-and-coming Magic team

However, many basketball analysts predicted the Magic will eventually trade Afflalo in exchange for more assets such as draft picks in next year's loaded draft. Apparently, the Bobcats have first-round picks from the Portland Trail Blazers and Detroit Pistons in that draft. One intriguing trade proposal is the Bobcats sending 22-year old center Bismack Biyombo and two first-round picks to Orlando in exchange for Afflalo.

"The Bobcats don't have many expendable young prospects--unless one is interested in the raw, 22-year-old big man Bismack Biyombo--but they do own 2014 first-round Draft picks from the Portland Trail Blazers and Detroit Pistons. While neither pick figures to be in the lottery, the depth of the 2014 Draft class makes mid-to-late first-rounders even more valuable than usual," Dunlap stated in his article.

After missing the postseason for the last four years, the Bobcats are on the winning track now. Afflalo could give the Michael Jordan-owned team another explosive scorer alongside budding All-Star guard Kemba Walker, Gerald Henderson, and center Al Jefferson as the core of the team.
