A new and exciting tablet from Amazon sells for only $50, but comes with great and useful features.

Dubbed as the Fire tablet, the device is a 7-inch gadget which sports a 1024 x 600 resolution display (although, with IPS), 8GB internal storage, a 1.3Ghz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and basic primary and secondary cameras, as per The Verge.

It added that this newest Amazon tablet runs on the latest Fire OS version and can last for about seven hours continuous use.

"But Amazon does claim this little tablet is more durable than iPad Air, and has two times more processing power than Samsung's competing Tab 3 Lite," added The Verge.

Liliputing also added that the cheap tablet alternative has a microSD card slot for additional storage and WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities.

As for the software, Fox News said users will be limited to shopping when using the Amazon app store but noted that given the 300,000 options it has, it is not that bad.

However, the new tablet reportedly does not provide access to the Google Play store which is a must in all Android devices, according to Ubergizmo but said that there can be a trick for this.

"There is a workaround that can enable users to access the Play Store and the best part is that it doesn't require users to root the tablet so their warranty doesn't get void," the same report noted.

This process would start with the download of the service to a personal computer as a zip file.

"From there, running a file from the uncompressed version of the download begins the installation process. After waiting a few minutes for everything to settle in, Amazon's Fire tablet becomes decidedly more of a worthwhile purchase," the instruction further read.

It added that the device does not needed to be rooted or hack for this to work.

Despite its very affordable price and good features, Android Headlines noted that it can only be considered acceptable for those who will not be bothered by the advertisements on the lock screen of the tablet.

Ina addition, Fox News said that the ads on the lock screen is part of the package since the tablet is part of Amazon's "Special Offers."

"Still, it would be hard to find a better deal. The decent performance, HD picture, and abundance of content (especially if you add the Prime subscription) outweigh the Fire's shortcomings," added the same report.

It also mentioned that the new tablet is also a perfect gift for the coming holiday season.
