The Division is one of the games that left a sizeable impression at E3 2013, and the open-world game looks to be one of the best of 2014—that is if Ubisoft is able to complete the game before the year is over.

While Ubisoft stated that 2014 is the projected launch window for the game, an anonymous employee at Ubisoft Massive, the main studio behind the game, has questioned if The Division will be ready at that time. Speaking to GameReactor, the source claimed that there is still a huge amount of work to be done on the game, even though the game's demos made it seem like the game was far along in production.

"The game engine works well, it's not done but works well. The actual game development has barely started, however...The fact that Ubisoft has gone public with a 2014 release date feels laughable to be perfectly honest, we will never be able to release The Division this year. It's a large project, and we have very far to go," the unidentified  source told GameReactor. 

While this news may be a disappointment to video game fans who are eager to play the game, the tipster's words may make sense. After all, Ubisoft is very busy at the moment as the have already delayed Watch Dogs and The Crew at the same time that they are working on The Division. This also proves that, if need be, Ubisoft is willing to delay games if they are not up to par, which may be the case with The Division if this source's information is accurate.

Another potential factor for having The Division be delayed is the size and detail of the world of the game. The Division takes place in a dystopian New York City, and Ubisoft is looking to create the five boroughs of the city with as much detail as possible. This obviously is a huge undertaking, and if the source is right and the project still has lots of work to do, then the game could be pushed back to 2015.

In any case, whenever The Division comes out it will represent one of the first true next-gen experiences. The game will be coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC sometime in the near future, but Ubisoft has yet to set a release date for the game.
