Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero is now reportedly being considered by Manny Pacquiao as his opponent for his next fight on April 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Recent reports suggested that Timothy Bradley and Ruslan Provodnikov are the choices of Pacquiao's camp, but Fighthype reported that Guerrero is now being considered as proven by the American welterweight's intentions of breaking ties with Golden Boy Promotions.

"There's another name. Robert Guerrero, our source informed us as we discussed Pacquiao's potential opponents when he makes anticipated April 12 return to the ring. We're told that although Pacquiao's preference is undefeated WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley, he's being advised that a bout with Guerrero may be more beneficial to him financially," Fighthype reported.

ESPN reported that Guerrero is seeking to break ties with Golden Boy Promotions through arbitration with California State Athletic Commission, which was confirmed by Golden Boy chief executive Robert Schaefer.

"What his issues are, I can't tell you. You'd have to ask him," Schaefer said. "We have totally complied with our contract with regard to the minimum purses and the number of fights, so I don't know what they are basing this on."

Schaefer hinted that Guerrero's live contract with Golden Boy Promotions will not make the proposed Pacquiao vs Guerrero showdown possible, saying that Guerrero's camp cannot seek arbitration through the California State Commission.

"The contract was not signed under California law, it was done under New York law, so you can't have the California commission rule on a New York promotional contract," Schaefer stressed. "Most of our promotional agreements are governed by New York law because that is where most of our sponsor deals and television deals are also governed, and we want to have consistency."

Schaefer reiterated that they have fulfilled the terms of the contract signed by Guerrero in 2008. He pointed out that the 30-year-old Guerrero even had the biggest fight and paycheck of his career under Golden Boy Promotions when they arranged a showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Guerrero, who absorbed a lopsided loss to the reigning pound-for-pound king in their showdown in May 2013, earned $3 million from the Mayweather fight. Before fighting Mayweather, Guerrero scored a unanimous decision win over Andre Berto to grab the interim WBC welterweight title in November 2012.
