Manny Pacquiao Next Fight Update: Freddie Roach Wants Former Floyd Mayweather Jr. Opponent Robert Guerrero For Pacman
The chance of the highly-anticipated boxing match between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao happening is still low, but Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach is still looking forward to facing the undefeated boxing champion in the future.

In fact, Roach, the longtime trainer of Pacquiao, said that he wants the Filipino boxing icon to go up against Robert Guerrero in his next fight on April 12 simply for one reason -- because Guerrero is a former opponent of Mayweather Jr.
"There's a couple of other guys out there right now that I'm thinking about that are free agents. You look at Mayweather's last like four fights and so forth, if we can fight one of those guys that he went the distance with and knock that person out and be impressive, it puts us even closer to Mayweather because that's the fight we really want eventually," Roach said in a statement as reported by Fighthype.
Roach added that Guerrero previously sparred with Pacquiao and he brought the best out of the former pound-for-pound king. The 53-year-old trainer feels that a knockout win against Guerrero will put Pacquiao closer to setting up a colossal showdown with Mayweather.
"Guerrero has sparred with Manny many times and he thinks he gets the best of Manny. He's made that public before that he used to beat Manny up in sparring. I see it a different way, but I would love that fight and I think it's a great fight. You know, he went the distance with Mayweather and I think if Manny knocks him out, it puts us even closer to the Mayweather fight," Roach said.
Aside from Guerrero, Timothy Bradley and Russian rising star Ruslan Provodnikov are also being considered for Pacquiao's next fight.
Roach previously expressed no desire in pitting stablemates Pacquiao and Provodnikov against each other.
On the other hand, the veteran trainer knows that Pacquiao wants to avenge his controversial loss to Bradley in June 2012, but Roach said that a fight against the undefeated Bradley will not do good pay-per-view numbers.
"He wants it [a rematch with Timothy Bradley] because he felt he got a bad decision last one. We like that fight of course, but the thing is, it's not a big moneymaker. The thing is, what Manny wants is to secure his legacy, yes, but the thing is he feels that he won that fight and a little bit of him feels there's really no need to fight him again unless it's worth it," Roach stressed.
