Kobe Bryant could make his return soon as reports indicated that the Los Angeles Lakers superstar will be re-evaluated next week as reported by ESPN Los Angeles.

Bryant, who is recovering from a left-knee injury that put him on the sidelines since December 17, was originally scheduled to be re-examined in February, but the Lakers badly need backcourt help.

In a recent interview with the Chicago Tribune, the 35-year-old guard expressed no doubt that he is still capable of returning strong from another major injury.

"I did play that second half on a fractured leg and I played pretty well. So I feel pretty good about my chances," said Bryant when asked about making a strong comeback this year.

Earlier this season, Bryant recovered from an Achilles tendon injury he sustained last season, but suffered another setback when he hurt his knee last month.

Aside from Bryant, the Lakers are also missing the services of veteran guards Steve Nash, Steve Blake, Jordan Farmar, and Xavier Henry due to injuries.

Nash, who is recovering from nerve irritation in his back, will also be re-evaluated when he returns to Los Angeles next week, while Blake has started participating in light drills following an elbow injury.

Farmar, who has been slowed down by his ailing left hamstring all season long, has been participating in shooting drills, but is still several weeks away from making his return.

On the other hand, Henry could make his comeback from a bone bruise in his right knee when the Lakers collide with the New York Knicks on Sunday.

The 22-year-old forward reportedly felt soreness in his knee following a recent workout, but his availability on Sunday will be determined in their upcoming practices, according to Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni.

"I think he'll take the next step and try to do more Thursday, but he's not ready to play yet," D'Antoni said. "He pushed it a little bit. We'll see (Thursday) how he wakes up, if it's sore. He said the way it felt (Wednesday), it felt pretty good. He'll take the next step where he gets some contact and stuff."
