Carmelo Anthony to Miami?
New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony, right, could join LeBron James, left, in Miami next season if Anthony opts out of New York this summer.

The Miami Heat could pull off another historic free agency coup this coming summer, as reports on Carmelo Anthony's potential alliance with fellow All-Stars LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are now gaining some steam.

Anthony, who is expected to become a free agent for the first time in his career, could join forces with fellow 2003 NBA Draft classmates and contend for a championship, according to Basketball Insider Steve Kyler.

The basketball analyst said the Heat have the cap space to sign James, Wade, Bosh and possibly Anthony and form one of the most talented quartets in the history of professional basketball this coming summer.

"The Miami HEAT have just $2.038 million in guaranteed contracts next summer. All three of Miami's major stars can opt out and create massive flexibility for Miami, not only in re-setting the luxury tax clock for the HEAT to continue their run at championships, but making it possible for Miami to make a run at Anthony. Depending on what each is willing to re-sign for, the HEAT could have anywhere between $57 and $60 million to work with in free agency," Kyler reported.

With the New York Knicks' playoff hopes slowly slipping away with each passing game, Anthony admitted that frustration is certainly taking its toll on him. For the past four games, Melo has been on a scoring rampage, topping 40 points in three of those games. Unfortunately, the Knicks have gone on an apalling 1-3 in that stretch, leaving Anthony with many questions to answer.

"Anthony has topped 40 a remarkable three times in his last four games, scoring "just" 35 points on his down night He is averaging 27.2 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists while playing 38.9 minutes per game in 51 appearances," CBS Sports reported via KPopStarz.

The Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers have been rumored as potential free agency destinations for Anthony, but the Knicks can offer the largest contract to make their star player stay.

However, NBA insiders believe the lure of winning will be too great for Anthony to take for granted, and there's no better place for him to win his first crown than in South Beach.
