The Oakland Raiders are looking to add another pass rusher this offseason. According to a source close to the situation, the team is intrigued by possibly signing free agent outside linebacker Rob Jackson, who served as a backup for the Washington Redskins last season.

The Raiders are once again on the lookout for a player that would help them bolster their chances of making it to the playoffs next season. Oakland has already signed DE LaMarr Woodley, DE Antonio Smith and DE Justin Tuck, and is planning to bring in the 28-year-old Jackson into the fold.

"The Oakland Raiders have been aggressive during the signing period and have already bolstered their defense with LaMarr Woodley and Justin Tuck. Now they may have some interest in adding Jackson to the mix as well," Sports Illustrated NFL insider Josh Sanchez reported on Sunday.

Jackson, who amassed 71 tackles and 7.5 sacks over six seasons with the Redskins, is reportedly scheduled to meet the Raiders' front office this week. Though scouts don't consider him a high impact player, Jackson is nevertheless a significant help to any team trying to come up with a formidable defensive unit, and is a dominating presence on special teams.

"While Jackson isn't a dynamic game-changer or a player that will drastically improve your team on the defensive side of the ball, he is a solid player that would add another body to the Raiders rotation in rushing situations and he could also become a big contributor on special teams," Sanchez reported.

A seventh-round draft pick in 2008, Jackson was hampered by injuries in his first three seasons, playing just 10 games during that span. However, he has bounced back and become a contributor on the team, playing in 44 of the last 48 games with Washington. In 2012, Jackson was given the opportunity to start when LB Brian Orakpo sustained an injury. He recorded 4.5 sacks in that season and followed it up with two sacks in a reserve role last year.
