Michael Vick is expected to sit down with New York Jets executives on Friday to discuss the possibility of making a move to the Big Apple next season.

NJ.com reported that Vick, who is considered as one of the top free agents on the market but has yet to draw strong interest, is the Jets' top free agency target, and a deal is highly likely considering the pressure on the shoulders of general manager John Idzik.

"Vick is planning on visiting the Jets, and it could come as early as Friday, a source close to the situation has told NJ.com. This will be Vick's first official visit, and could be his last if all goes well. And the pressure could be on the Jets to land a free agent, given a methodical and fruitless approach that has left fans impatient and critical of general manager John Idzik," NJ.com noted.

Previous reports indicated that Vick is looking for a starting job - a position that he might get with the Jets. While Geno Smith showed a lot of potential during last season's final stretch, the Jets have yet to show readiness to name the incoming sophomore as a permanent starter.

The Jets could be an ideal landing spot for Vick, knowing that the 33-year-old veteran can still compete for a starting spot. Vick was named as Philadelphia Eagles' starting quarterback last season, but lost his job to Nick Foles due to injury.

Sources indicated that the Jets were impressed with the way Vick handled his situation with the Eagles last season, and team executives are reportedly convinced that the veteran quarterback could be a perfect complement to Smith next season.

Vick previously said that he is open to mentoring younger quarterbacks, but also insisted that he is not yet ready to accept a backup role.

"I enjoy the role of mentoring, but I also like being in action," Vick said in an interview, via NY Daily News. "I love playing football. I love playing quarterback. It's a great game, so I take on that role because I feel like that's my responsibility when I'm in that position."

Aside from the Jets, the Buffalo Bills and the Oakland Raiders are also reportedly interested in signing Vick, but it is still unknown whether or not Vick intends to talk to both teams.
