New York Knicks owner James Dolan said he doesn't regret letting Jeremy Lin walk away from the team, adding that signing the former Harvard hotshot could have further messed up the Knicks' financial situation.

In an interview with Michael Kay, Dolan talked about the reasons behind the hiring of Phil Jackson as Knicks president and his decision to let Lin walk away in the summer of 2012.

Lin, who came out of nowhere to lead the Knickerbockers to a series of victories and eventually helped them reach the postseason in 2012, signed a three-year, $25 million deal with the Rockets two years ago.

According to sources, Dolan was reportedly livid and felt betrayed that Lin went back to Houston to sign a bigger deal, which would pay him $15 million in the final year of the contract.

"According to Isola and his sources, Dolan not only felt 'upset' and 'livid,' but also 'deceived' and 'betrayed.' After Houston's initial offer sheet to Lin would have payed him $9.3 million in the third year of the deal, the Knicks promised to match the offer sheet," Bleacher Report reported.

However, Dolan seems to have already moved on from the past. When asked if he regrets losing Lin to free agency in 2012, the Knicks owner quickly answered with an emphatic "no," saying he believes he made a wise decision after all.

"No," Dolan said in the interview. "No regrets with Jeremy Lin. I wish Jeremy the best of luck, but he's going to get paid $19 million next year, and imagine what our team would be like if we, you know, we'd be stuck for a long time, so no."

Lin is averaging 12.4 points and 4.2 assists per game in a reserve role this NBA season for the Houston Rockets. However, inconsistency and injuries have made his tenure with his current squad questionable, especially with roughly $8 million going against the team's salary cap.

Meanwile, the Knicks look to rebuild their reputation under the tutelage of Jackson, their new president of basketball operations.
