Former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez is now being investigated for allegedly threatening to shoot and kill a guard at Bristol County Jail.

However, one of Hernandez's fellow inmates says the allegation is false, according to TMZ.

Investigators met with an ex-inmate who had been in a cell near Hernandez to discuss a 2013 incident between the former football star and a correctional officer.

Investigators questioned whether Hernandez had threatened to kill the officer, who told prison authorities when Hernandez was trying to get access to extra food. The ex-inmate told investigators that Hernandez was losing weight in jail, and would come up with schemes to obtain extra food.

The former inmate said he would put an insect on a half-eaten meal, then tell officials that there was insect in his food so he could receive a new serving. He added that Hernandez carried out such schemes "one too many times," which angered the officers, who eventually refused to give him extra portions.

Investigators also asked the ex-inmate whether Hernandez threatened to kill the guard and "shoot his family" once he's released from jail. They also asked if Hernandez made a "machine gun round" noise to the guard.

The former inmate claimed that Hernandez never threatened to murder the guard, but that he called the guard a "b**ch" during the argument.

Hernandez was written up for the incident.

Hernandez is being held without bond in Bristol County Jail while awaiting a first-degree murder trial for the slaying of Odin Lloyd. Lloyd was found fatally shot multiple times in an industrial park near Hernandez's home in North Attleborough, Mass. in June 2013.
