Following Selena Quintanilla's untimely death in 1995, then-Gov. George W. Bush declared April 16, the singer's birthday, as Selena Day. In honor of this year's Selena Day, here's a look at her top 5 songs.

1. "Dreaming of You"

This song was released after Selena's death in 1995. There was a music video released that features a young woman who runs away with the man she loves. She ends up leaving with him in a red car. Selena is shown only through posters and video footage.

2. "Techno Cumbia"

This song was written during the Selena Live! Tour between 1993 and 1994. Recording and producing the song took less than 24 hours.

3. "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom"

This is one of the first songs that was composed for "Amor Prohibido," her fifth studio album. The song was first about a fish freely swimming in the ocean, and she even performed this version for her fans. But it was never recorded. It went through a transformation, with Caribbean reggae influences being added to the song to attract a Latino audience.

4. "No Me Queda Más"

This Spanish-language song has flamenco and ranchera influences. It was released in 1994. Ricky Vela, who joined Selena y Los Dinos as the lead keyboardist, wrote this song about Selena's sister whom he had fallen in love with. He had kept his feelings to himself until she married another man.

5. "Amor Prohibido"

This song began from a tune Selena hummed, and Selena helped write the lyrics as well. She wanted it to be inspired by her grandparents who belonged to different social classes and as a result were forbidden to see each other.
