The upcoming hacking game is reportedly the most pre-ordered title, proclaims GameStop.

Liberty Voice reports that the retailer has confirmed "Watch Dogs'" impressive pre-order sales. "The early success of this game has prompted 3,500 U.S. GameStop locations to open their doors on the night of the 26th to allow ample time for fans to pick up their pre-ordered copy," the outlet notes.

The news comes after Ubisoft earlier acknowledged that the upcoming title has received a warm welcome from the gaming community. The publisher details pre-order sales for "Watch Dogs" in a blog, saying that it is the most pre-ordered new IP in the company's history (and the second most pre-ordered Ubisoft game, period), as well as the most pre-ordered new IP in the entire industry this year.

Tony Key, Senior VP Sales and Marketing at Ubisoft attested to the claim saying, "These strong pre-orders are a clear indication of players' anticipation and excitement for 'Watch Dogs.' The teams have worked tirelessly to ensure that players will enjoy a top quality game with enormous scope, and we can't wait to get the game into their hands."

Senior Vice President of Merchandising at GameStop, Bob Puzon, also commented on the game's pre-order sales. "There is massive buzz in all of our stores around 'Watch Dogs.' Based on the current level of customer pre-orders we have received, Watch Dogs is the highest pre-ordered next-gen title to date and most pre-ordered new IP of the year."

"Watch Dogs" is expected to sell 6.3 million copies during its launch year, reports IGN. The outlet hinges on the figures dished out by Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot who based the estimate after the first Assassin's Creed game's success.

The Ubisoft title is still available for pre-order at GameStop for $59.99 before it drops May 27 on the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
