The Marvel and Netflix TV show is rumored to have found its superhero. According to rumors, Charlie Cox has been cast as the headliner in the "Daredevil" series.

The Hollywood Reporter claims that a source has confirmed Cox' role as Matt Murdock, "the blind lawyer by day and crime-fighting hero by night" titular character. Furthermore, Cox is reportedly the first star to have gotten a role in the upcoming 13-episode drama series.

The casting comes as a surprise after the TV show lost Drew Goddard as showrunner. The Hollywood Reporter notes that Goddard has signed on to the "Spider-man" spin-off, "Sinister Six." The "Daredevil" series now has Steven S. DeKnight as the head.

Although it looks like a change of head has not affected the show's casting, it isn't clear when Marvel will be rolling out other characters and the respective stars portraying the role. In fact, Charlie Cox' alleged Matt Murdox role hasn't even been officially confirmed by Marvel and Netflix yet.

But should Cox indeed be the Hell's Kitchen superhero, it would somehow serve as a comeback for the actor. ScreenRant notes that the actor's career has been "fairly quiet" after his role as Tristan Throne in Matthew Vaughn's 2007 fantasy film, "Stardust." Variety notes that the actor also had regular appearance in the 3rd season of HBO's "Boardwalk Empire."

ScreenRant adds that the "Daredevil" TV show is to be followed by four other Marvel shows for Netflix. "Jessica Jones," "Iron Fist" and "Luke Cage" will reportedly follow the Hell Kitchen's superhero show and will comprise "The Defenders" mini-series.

"The goal of these shows, according Disney CEO Bob Iger, is to monetize the Marvel characters that aren't going to get their own big budget movies," says ScreenRant.

"Although these are superhero stories, this is different now. This is the street level...this is the street level noir side of the Marvel Universe. Something that you haven't really, really seen in any of our Marvel movies," Marvel's Joe Quesada said of the show during a Fatman on Batman podcast.
