The "Pretty Little Liars" star has revealed that she actually auditioned for the film adaptation of the erotic novel.

According to Hollywood Life, Lucy has just confirmed in a recent interview with Us Weekly that she did in fact, tried out for a spot in the upcoming racy film, "Fifty Shades of Grey." The outlet quotes the actress as saying, "I auditioned for 'Fifty Shades of Grey.'"

However, Hollywood Life has not mentioned what role the actress tried out for. Way back in 2012, the star was reported to have read E.L. James now buzzed-up novel. Speaking with MTV that year, she revealed, "I'm on 'Fifty Shades Darker.' I get flustered even talking about it, so yeah, I'm on that train."

At that time, fans of the novel were shipping Lucy and Ian Somerhalder to play the lead roles of the novel's film adaptation. Asked if she would be up to play the role of Anastasia Steele, she said that she was ready to head to that direction.

"I definitely am ready to take a step and do something a bit more risky, absolutely, but it's a fine line," the actress told MTV. "I don't know what that fine line is, but I'm definitely ready to explore a darker side of my acting abilities."

As for playing Anastasia Steele which has now been confirmed to be played by Dakota Johnson, "People have said that, but people have also said [I could play] the little sister, which I think could make sense, because I look a little young for Ana, but God, what a big role to take on. I'm really curious to see how it's all going to [play out]," she commented.

Fans of the "Fifty Shades" trilogy have gone as far as making mock trailers for the upcoming film and of course, Lucy Hale stars in at least one of the fan trailers.
