Miss Indiana Mekayla Diehl caused quite a stir when she walked on stage donning white bikini that showed off her toned yet curvier body. The 25-year-old made it to the top 20 but wasn't chosen to continue on to the top 10 with many wondering why.

"Upset. Miss Indiana looked like a normal person...and she didn't make the cut. :( #MissUSA2014," said @StephsDangerout.

The competition was fierce but no confirmation from the officials were given on why Miss Indiana didn't proceed to the semi-final round. Even if Miss Indiana wasn't triumphant, viewers continued to cheer her for her beautiful physique.

Diehl represented Indiana wonderfully as she sauntered through the stage flaunting her curves that is now drawing national attention and praise. Diehl sported a Kandice Pelletier Swimsuit and matched it with Chinese Laundry shoes, writes the Daily Mail.

Many praise the young lady for her courage and confidence. She is proof that you don't have weigh less to be considered beautiful.

"Miss Indiana shows you don't have to be super skinny to be beautiful," tweeted @Hi_ItsKenna.

"Finally a contestant that's not a bag of bones," tweeted @terraj21, while @k_mck12 said: "The fact Miss Indiana is not a complete twig makes me really happy."

Even though Miss Indiana wasn't able to capture the crown, she's pleased to have made such a positive impact.

"So cool I worked hard on my body without obsessing over being too skinny and I couldn't be more proud," Tweeted the beauty contestant.

Diehl has a body that is curvier and more built than the typical super thin contestants but to be realistic, JCOnline.com notes that her body type is not technically the "average" size.

The average American woman is pegged to be a size 8 with Miss Indiana admitting that she is a 5-8 and able to fit into a size 4. Her BMI is a much lower 18 per cent than the American average of 33 per cent.

Nonetheless, Miss Indiana has indeed made a statement that beauty doesn't mean you have to be incredibly slim. Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes and Miss Indiana has just shown that strength, fitness and confidence also make a person beautiful.

Who took home the crown? Miss USA 2014 was none other than 24-year-old Miss Nevada, Nia Sanchez.

As a tribute to the gorgeous Mekayla Diehl, below is the footage of the crowning of Zoe Parker, Miss Indiana Teen USA 2014 and Mekayla Diehl Miss Indiana USA 2014.
