A title that's been tailor-fit for VR gaming is coming to Project Morpheus, Sony announced at E3 2014.

According to the PS4-maker, nDreams, the studio behind "The Assembly" has developed the game with VR technology in mind. According to a PlayStation blog post, nDreams is "a fast-growing team of around 28 based in Farnborough in the UK." According to him, the game is the product of "experimenting, prototyping and trying all sorts of unusual ideas out" after the studio got their hands on VR headsets as early as 2013.

Although it seems to be the first time that the studio is under the limelight, it has been publishing for seven years, with "work on PS Home spaces and items, including alternate-reality game Xi," notes Computer and Video Games.

Patrick O'Luanaigh, the CEO of nDreams, describes the upcoming title as "a mysterious VR adventure game."

True enough to the "mysterious VR adventure game" description, the teaser trailer for "The Assembly" is indeed intriguing. The opening scene was in a dessert where a seemingly dying bird lays on the ground. The next scene features what appears to be an underground laboratory where a team is shown seated on a table. A man behind a computer appears next, followed by a masked person monitoring another human running on a treadmill. The dying bird in the opening scene makes another appearance on the later part of the clip. This time, the dead bird is opened up and dissected - the insides examined through a microscope.

O'Luanaigh explains the game in the PlayStation blog post saying, "Players are flung into the underground world of The Assembly, a secretive collection of scientists, academics and engineers who believe morality in society is preventing scientific advancement and are committed to discovering a universal theory of everything, at any cost."

The storyline for "The Assembly" is written by Tom Jubert who also worked on "FTL," "Penumbra" and "The Swapper," says O'Luanaigh. Game Rant notes that the plot seems to be similar to "BioShock."

Gamers of the upcoming VR title will be able to play as any of the two different characters at various points, reads the PlayStation blog post. That way, players will be able to experience the difference of minute details such as differences in height, sounds and voices.

"Rather than playing as a silent character, we found that playing the role of characters in the story works really well, and helps make The Assembly feel quite different to most other VR projects," the nDreams CEO wrote.

Neither Sony nor nDreams has announced a release date for "The Assembly" but the title will reportedly roll out for the PS4 with Project Morpheus and on PC with Oculus Rift.
