Of the five major sports, soccer can easily be assessed as being the most team oriented. No matter how great a squads forwards are, if the back line does not stop the opponent then the team wont get too far in the World Cup. That being said, every team possess an 'x-factor,' a not so secret weapon who when called upon can deliver the clutch crushing blow.

Here's our 'Top 5' list of game changers to watch during the World Cup. No matter who your team is, these 5 players are a set of highlight reels waiting to happen.

No.1 Cristiano Ronaldo

The world's best player and winner of the FIFA Ballon d'Or is drawing curiosity from fans who want to see how his leg holds up. Portugal is dead in the water without a strong showing from Ronaldo. The ever-engaging debate between Ronaldo and our No. 2 pick, Lionel Messi, could possibly be put to rest depending on who leads their team the farthest.

No. 2 Lionel Messi

Messi has the kind of talent to take the ball coast to coast with a vicious strike on goal. Argentina looks to be in great shape as far as betting is concerned. Betters and experts have slated Argentina as the second favorite to take home the World Cup. At only 26, Messi still has enough left in the tank to bring home the cup.

No. 3 Neymar

Neymar is must see TV every time the ball comes his way. Suiting up for the host nation Brazil team, Neymar and Brazil are favored to keep the World Cup right where it sits. His uncanny ability to strike with both feet could be an essential element to a Brazil championship.

No. 4 Van Persie

Although Van Persie has only netted two goals in his 11-game World Cup career, this time around he's looking for redemption. In qualifying for the cup this year Van Persie scored 11 goals and 12 in his last 15 international games. Van Persie looks to lead the Netherlands to a strong showing.

No. 5 Mesut Ozil

It's only fitting that the 6-1 favorite German squad gets a player on our list. Ozil is Germany's spark plug with his fluid style of play and competitive drive. Coming out of the 'group of death' Germany will need Ozil to remain one of the World Cup favorites.
