The 2014 release date for the next-gen game console and PC versions of "Grand Theft Auto V" may have been leaked by Amazon.

An Amazon retailer has reportedly posted the title's PS4, Xbox One and PC versions for pre-order, says Game Space. According to the outlet, the Amazon listing claims that "GTA 5" will be out 28th of October, 2014. The listing has allegedly been taken down but Game Space managed to secure a screenshot.

An October release date is not far off, notes the Examiner. "Most shopping websites usually post placeholder dates for software products with no launch time frames. In this case, however, the date falls on a Tuesday, which is when a majority of titles are released. So there may be some validity to the Amazon listing," the outlet says.

The controversial listing comes after Sony announced at E3 2014 that the title was heading to the PS4. Rockstar Games later on confirmed that "GTA 5" will also be made available on Microsoft's next-gen game console, the Xbox One and on PC as well. However, an exact release date has not been announced yet, with the post only indicating a Fall launch day for the title.

"Grand Theft Auto V will take full advantage of the power of the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC with across-the-board graphical and technical improvements to deliver a stunning new level of detail. Increased draw distances, finer texture details, denser traffic, and enhanced resolutions all work together to bring new life to the cities, towns, deserts and oceans of Rockstar North's epic reimagining of Southern California," Rockstar said in the announcement.

In addition to better graphical qualities for the next-gen "GTA 5" game, it will also come with "game world enhancements" such as "new wildlife, upgraded weather and damage effects, and an array of new details to discover," reads the announcement.

Rockstar Games also confirmed that the upgrades will also "extend" to Grand Theft Auto Online. "All new content and gameplay created since the launch of Grand Theft Auto Online, including an extensive array of new Jobs, an arsenal of new weapons, scores of new vehicles, new properties and player customizations will also be available for the PlayStation 4 system, Xbox One and PC with much more to come," details Rockstar.

The game developer and publisher later on adds in a comment, "For those asking, Grand Theft Auto Online characters and progression will be transferable to PlayStation 4, Xbox One or PC."
