A Coca-Cola drink in green packaging, branded as the Coke Life, will soon be launched in the U.K. region after being released in Chile and Argentina. The brand new soda is introduced as a healthy alternative to their usual lineup of carbonated drinks.

It's not an actual diet drin,  the Guardian described, but it has just about 89 calories per can which is lesser than the usual 140 calories found in a regular red can of Coke.

Coke Life is the giant company's way of responding to health concerns that are constantly being thrown at them. Such issues include the health drawbacks that a sugar-filled drink can render and another is the thought that the company uses artificial sweeteners that can lead to weight gain.

Such have led to the decline of the overall soda sales within the U.S., reports. Yahoo. Even the sales figure of diet soda products has also been declining now.

Within the U.K. region, the new Coke Life will have the reduced normal amount of calories for sodas by about five percent at the end of 2014.

Meanwhile, the company's representative for the Oceania base explained that they are keeping their eye on the new green product too. They plan to first observe how the new product's introduction would do in New Zealand.

In a report on the New Zealand Herald, Coca-Cola Europe President James Quincey said, "With Coca-Cola Life, we have innovated to provide consumers with a new option with fewer calories. We were early signatories to the UK Government's Responsibility Deal and as we work with others across society to address the public health challenge of obesity in the UK and across Europe, we will continue to take actions that help people balance their lifestyles".

At present, the new Coke Life still has no confirmed date of release for the U.S. market.

On the other hand, Coke's leading rival, PepsiCo, partnered with Senomyx to enhance the sweetness of their even if there's less sugar in it, wrote Bloomberg.
