Tim Howard made history on Monday, although for him it was undoubtedly bittersweet. The US men's team fell to Belgium 2-1, and it would have been a lot more lopsided if not for a late goal by the US and a historic 16 saves from Howard.

It was truly inspirational to watch, and Howard was understandibly emotional after what could very well be his final match in a USA uniform. And if it was, what a way to go out.

Howard said his team gave their all, but even with the late charge they mounted, the US team was only able to muster 9 shots on goal to their opponent's 27. That simply will not get it done in the round of 16.

Either way, it was quite a run by the team and quite a final performance by its seemingly superhuman keeper. We've compiled some of Howard's best saves below, in an homage to the amazing athlete.

Well done, Tim Howard. Well done.
