If rumors are true, the Cupertino-based tech giant will most likely give the MacBook Pro line of devices a much-needed refresh and it looks like a reveal is coming pretty soon.

It was earlier reported that the MacBook Pro 2014 could launch this weekend. The alleged July 13 release date is tipped by Christian Today after Apple devices such as the MacBook Air, the iMac and the iPad Mini with Retina display got a price cut. Interestingly, the current generation MacBook Pro is not included in the priced down devices list.

Now, Stabley Times reports that the MacBook Pro seems to be having supply issues. The outlet says that MacMall is "facing a backorder" on current generation MacBook Pro models. "It's not even sure when they'll ship," adds the report.

Apparently, a Stabley Times reader "ordered a fifteen inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display near the end of June from MacMall. [The] order was unexpectedly delayed until July 7th - and has since been further pushed back to an expected ship date of July 14th," narrates Stabley Times.

The delay could very well mean that Apple is "quietly reducing" current generation MacBook Pro stocks to pave way for the next generation Apple laptop, adds Stabley Times. Of course, this is just a speculation so the deduction is best taken with a grain of salt.

Aside from a possible nearer release date, those who are looking to purchase an Apple laptop should also consider waiting for the MacBook Pro 2014 as it might just be a "convertible," as noted by Pop Herald.

According to the report, a new study hinging on Gartner's data reveals that consumer demand has shifted from conventional personal computers to tablets. Another hit with consumers are the "convertibles" which, as Pop Herald puts it, refer to "a new category with basic laptop and desktop functionality and some tablet computers features - all mixed into one product."

This could mean that Apple might also be considering the same move and perhaps compete with Microsoft's Surface Pro 3. The innovation will be a first for the tech giant, if ever.

The MacBook Pro 2014 is also rumored to come with a new 14nm Intel chip - making a fanless laptop possible. The new Intel chip would also translate to a better performing laptop with a battery that will last users considerably longer hours.

Apple has not yet announced anything regarding the next generation MacBook Pro but given all these rumors, it is safe to say that the upcoming laptop is worth the wait.
