The company has denied claims of the tablet's rear casing deformation is due to overheating.

Android Central quotes the South Korean tech giant as saying:

"Contrary to certain media reports, the slight disfiguration that has formed on the rear surface of the Galaxy Tab S has been attributed to a limited number of defective back covers, which has no relation to the overheating of the application processor or the material used for the back cover. We would like to assure our customers that we have already resolved the issue. We ask affected customers to please contact their nearest Samsung Electronics customer service center."

Just a few days ago, a certain user's Galaxy Tab S allegedly had a dimpled plastic rear after installing "heavy duty apps," says GSM Arena. BGR notes that the Galaxy Tab S model of the user had Exynos 5 Octa under the hood.

"Apparently, overheating occurs especially while graphics-intensive apps, such as games, are in use, and the fact that the tablet is extremely thin (measuring 6.6mm) may not help either when it comes to heat dissipation," the BGR report adds.

The photos of the deformed Samsung Galaxy Tab S are posted on hi-tech.mail.ru and show noticeable dimple deformations on the plastic back panel. However, GSM Arena says that according to the company, the back cover deformations are "negligible" and are believed to have no bearing on the functionality of the tablet.

Phone Arena says that the deformed Galaxy Tab S back cover seems to be an isolated case. According to the report:

"We poked around the Tab S forums a bit, and nobody else seems to have complained about such an issue. Furthermore, unless the users register the rear temperature with a heat sensor, and it indeed shows unusual readings under stress, or more people confirm this, we'd have to chalk this off as an isolated incident for now, but will keep an eye on the developments."

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S was released just this year and comes in 8.4 and 10.5 sizes. The tablets sport Super AMOLED screens and run on Android 4.4 KitKat. The Galaxy Tab S is only 6.6mm thick - way thinner than the company's flagship device, the Samsung Galaxy S5 which measures 8.1mm in thickness.

Like the S5 though, the rear cover in question is plastic but flaunts a dimpled leather design. Apparently, some of these back covers, although up a notch from other Samsung tablets, are defective as admitted by Samsung.

Is your Galaxy Tab S' rear cover fine?
