Country singer Taylor Swift just announced her fifth studio album via Yahoo! live stream on Monday and gave the world a taste by dropping her lead single, "Shake it Off."

The 24-year-old revealed that it is her "first documented official pop album" which was inspired by music from the year she was born - 1989.

Swift explained via NY Daily News, "I really loved the chances they were taking (in the late 1980s). I loved how bold it was, I loved how ahead of its time it was."

It seems that Taylor chose a great song to usher in her new album. The pop and happy vibe of the track "Shake it Off" and its video makes the song anything but boring. With a whole lot of Taylor going onin the video, viewers can see a mix of different styles - from hip hop to ballet and more.

Referring to the time as one with "limitless potential" she made the decade her muse with her album cover echoing the same theme - a polariod snapshot of the singer, noted RollingStone. It's no wonder the song is such a hit with nearly three million views since it's release.

The song was co-written by Max Martin and Shellback with the latter acting as the producer of the track, noted the site. Previous tracks of Swift where she sought the expertise of the two writers include one of her hit tracks, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together."

"Two years gives you enough time to grow and change; change what you believe in and what's influencing and inspiring you," explained Swift on the two year gap between "Red" which was released in 2012.

"In the process, my music changed. I woke up every single day not wanting, but needing, to make a new style of music. This album is a rebirth for me."

For those interested in buying the new album, it will be available on October 27th. "1989" is available for pre-order via the singer's website, Amazon and iTunes.

"It was so much fun. I woke up every day of that shoot and couldn't wait to get to set," Swift told RollingStone about the "Shake It Off" video shoot.

"We had twerking, which was so funny. Those girls were trying to teach me how, and it's just never gonna happen. I tried really hard. They were teaching me what they do, and there's like a science to it - they're like digging their heels into the floor without you seeing their legs move, but their butts' moving. It's mind-blowing to me. They were explaining it all to me, and it's so above my comprehension of how to understand your body."
