Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2014: 6 Pink Campaigns Supporting the Cause

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and to support the cause, there are a number of pink campaigns launched to help in raising awareness about the importance of early detection and treatment of breast cancer.

Here are six pink campaigns you may wish to consider supporting given its efforts for Breast Cancer Awareness Month:

  1. Breast Cancer Research Foundation - Shop Pink with the foundation and save lives. Support the cause and contribute to research by purchasing their carefully selected products.
  2. Avon Foundation For Women - The foundation helps a number of causes, one of which is Breast Cancer. As one of the leading corporate sponsors for Breast Cancer, their projects range from health programs, cancer research to medical and social services. Visit their website to donate or go shopping and feel good with Avon's Fundraising Products.
  3. Stella McCartney - See the designer's Gemma Relaxing line of pink lingerie that's part of her Autumn/ Winter 14 collection. With prices between $43 to $81, portions of the proceeds are given to the Linda McCartney Center in the UK.
  4. Timberland - Get the eye-catching pink Timberlands that were developed through a collaboration with Susan G. Komen. Under The Komen Race for the Cure Series, $5 of each purchase of the Men's or Kid's boots will be donated to Susan G. Komen to continue it's active work on Breast Cancer.
  5. Estee Lauder - See the company's "Hear Our Stories" campaign that seeks to give survivors and their families a network of support through sharing of stories to give inspiration, strength and hope.
  6. WWE - Another international enterprise that is working with Susan G. Komen is the WWE. Purchase one of their "Rise Above Cancer" merchandise until Dec. 31, 2014 and 20% of the proceeds will go to Komen.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed type of cancer among women, after skin cancer. Medical processionals recommend that women between the age of 50-74 get a mammogram every two years.

Breast Cancer's first sign is usually a breast lump or an abnormal mammogram. While it's one of the leading types of cancer in women, male breast cancer is not uncommon and similarly, must be taken seriously.
