Despite the lack of concrete talks and plans for a Floyd Mayweather Jr. versus Manny Pacquiao fight next year, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum still believes that the mega fight between the two biggest boxers today could happen.

After years of negotiations, fans are wondering if the fight will indeed materialize. With Arum's positivity, let us look at the top three reasons why the big match may finally push through next year.

First, Arum said in a Boxing News article that the fight will surely take place if "boxing fans would stop talking about the fight." The Top Rank CEO noted that what the people say about the fight influences Mayweather's decision on whether or not to fight Pacquiao.

"If it happens, it happens. Maybe we're better off if nobody talks about it because maybe it will happen. No, I haven't given up [on the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight]. It's a fight where everyplace I go people say to me 'When is Manny going to fight Floyd?' That's the fight people want to see. So why should I give up on it?" Arum added.

Second, Pacquiao's camp is confident that he will win in his upcoming fight against Chris Algieri, which is expected to make him more marketable than ever and a more attractive opponent for the undefeated American fighter.

According to Boxing News, if Pacquiao fails to beat Algieri, talks of his fight with Mayweather will really not materialize.

Third, the money involved in this much-anticipated fight will really be huge and can become too expensive for both players to decline. An earlier Daily Mail report said that if the fight happens, it will be the richest in ring history since it is pegged at $300 million. This deal will surely make Mayweather reconsider his options just in case his mind is made up that he will not fight the Filipino boxer.

Excuses or valid reasons?

The fight of the two have been hampered by concerns from both camps. Boxing News said that in 2010, the Mayweather-Pacquiao matchup was already in the talks but it did not push through after Mayweather demanded that Pacquiao undergo drug testing.

Arum decided to put Pacquiao against Joshua Clottey instead of agreeing to the demands of Mayweather's camp. This became a "missed opportunity" for both boxers. In 2012, it was Mayweather who challenged Pacquiao to make the fight happen but the latter decided to go against Juan Manuel Marquez for the fourth time and was knocked out by his Mexican opponent during the sixth round.

It seems like circumstances and even fate have hindered the fight of the two equally talented boxers and the fans are certainly hoping that this year, plans will already be ironed out so that prior to their retirement, they will give the world one last grand fight.
