The upcoming episode of the CW's "The Vampire Diaries" picks up with Silas still missing in action, while Amara is in Damon and Elena's possession.

During the episode, which is entitled "Death and the Maiden," Stefan gets his memories back from Tessa but he's completely clueless about Silas and Amara. Therefore, it'll be up to Elena and Damon to explain that Silas is MIA, and that Silas' one true love is the key to the supernatural barrier and has been transformed into a human. However, the question remains whether or not Damon will take the time to explain to Stefan that he's destined to be with Elena, reports the IBT.

According to the official synopsis released by the CW, Dr. Wes, who is played by guest star Rick Cosnett, gives Katherine some deeply disturbing news, reports BuddyTV.com. Nadia, guest star Olga Fonda, shows up at Caroline's dorm room in search for Katherine. After a surprising conversation with Amara, Jeremy and Bonnie become hopeful. Silas fails to keep a promise, causing Damon to turn to Tessa for help with his new plan. In the meantime, Stefan makes a heartbreaking confession to Damon and Elena.

In one of the previews, Jeremy shares news regarding Amara with Bonnie saying, "It turns out that it's not gonna be that easy to keep Amara alive." This cases Bonnie to worry about whether it will hurt or not when the other side is destroyed. The three things that Jeremy tells Bonnie is "This is not a goodbye" because he believes Bonnie will always be there, and "Thank you for giving your life up for me." We'll have to wait to find out the third piece of info.

TV Line's Michael Ausiello also warns viewers to be on the lookout for the abduction of a major character before the end of the month. Ausiello also reports that EP Julie Peck teases a triple doppelganger scene with Elena, Katherine and Amara. "It's one of my favorite scenes of the entire season - and the last couple seasons," Peck said.

On a possible comparison to the BBC America's "Orphan Black," Peck said, "I saw Orphan Black. It's amazing. But Nina has been doing that for four years. I want to give Nina her due."

"The Vampire Diaries" airs Thursdays at 8 pm ET on the CW.
