Photos have surfaced on social media sites of what is thought to be the crash site of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17.

The plane has apparently crashed near Donetsk in Eastern Ukraine Thursday morning and officials fear the 295 passengers and crew are all dead.

Below are some of the latest photos of the crash site in Ukraine.

Ukraine is currently experiencing armed conflict between pro-Russian forces and Ukrainian loyalist forces. The controversy started earlier this year when pro-Russian forces seized much of Crimea following protests which led to the ousting of Ukraine's then president.

Both pro-Russian militants and Ukrainian forces are denying any involvement in the crash of the downed Malaysian Airlines plane. According to the Independent, Ukraine's current President, Petro Poroshenko said today, "We do not exclude that this plane was shot down, and we stress that the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not take action against any airborne targets," and "We are sure that those who are guilty in this tragedy will be held responsible."

The pro-Russian rebel groups are saying the incident was a "provocation by the Ukrainian military." The Prime Minister of Donetsk People's Republic, the region containing the crash site, has stated "self defence forces have no air-defence, which could target transport aircraft at that height."

Russia has also denied any involvement and said it had no planes within the area of the Ukraine-Russia border on Thursday.

According to the Independent, the plane allegedly involved is a Boeing 777. The plane departed from Amsterdam at 12:14 am local time. It was scheduled to arrive in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at 6:10 am local time.

The photo above is purportedly of MH17 and was taken after it took off from Amsterdam. According to unnamed sources who spoke with Interfax, the plane is said to have disappeared from radar screens when it was at a height of 32,800 feet (10,000 meters).
