Rumors are suggesting that the alleged 12-inch version of the device won't be launching until next year.

According to Ecumenical News, the in-between sized MacBook Air's alleged release date has been pushed back to 2015 due to "processor supply constraints in Taiwan." But the outlet reports, citing a previous claim by BGR, that the 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air models are still on track as far as release date is concerned.

The MacBook Air 2014 has long been rumored to come with Intel's 14 nanometer chip but it seems that the supply may only last the 11-inch and 13-inch models.  Ecumenical News reports that the company's Brian Krzanich assures holiday shipping for the sought-after Broadwell processors.

"We said we would have products on shelves for the holiday season and we continue to work with our partners and we're on schedule to have product on shelf in the holiday," the outlet quotes Krzanich as saying.

Other rumored specs and features of the device include "new chassis, new screens and new chipsets," says BGR. The upcoming MacBook Air 2014 is also alleged to ship with Apple's latest OS X Yosemite.

But the rumor mills don't stop at that. Much like the MacBook Pro, the MacBook Air is also allegedly due a Retina display upgrade. As we previously reported, such upgrade would make the MacBook Air's display top-of-the-line in terms of quality.

Extreme Tech points out that a Retina display looks "inevitable" as almost every gadget that's recently rolled out comes with high resolution displays - and Apple should not lag behind.

"When you look at the 11-inch MacBook Air's paltry 1366×768 resolution compared to the 2048×1536 display in the 10-inch iPad, it's actually a bit embarrassing," Extreme Tech notes. "In fact, the MacBook Air's display is a lot closer to the 1136×640 display included with the four-inch iPhone than the high-res displays commonly found in comparable 10-inch tablets."

Apple's latest refresh on the MacBook Air line was a couple of months ago, says BGR in another report. The update was a small bump in terms of processing speed and a better battery life, the outlet details. The tech giant also tagged older MacBook Air models $100 lower - making the price the lowest ever for the device.

The 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air 2014 are both rumored to be out by late Q3 of this year while the 12-inch model might not make it to shelves until next year. Apple has not confirmed any release date for the MacBook Air line.
